The 2 dots on the gears should be lined up as close to each other as possible (cam gear mark at 6 oclock and crank gear mark at 12 oclock position). With these marks lines up, #1 piston should be fully at the top of its stroke, and both #1 cam lobes should be down (both #1 lifters down).
